Privacy policy
Last updated 16 October 2026
Keep Clear is built so that what you log stays with you. This page explains what stays on your phone, what leaves it, and why.
The short version
- Everything you put into Keep Clear stays on your phone: your answers, check-ins, urges, slips, notes and plans. We never see it.
- There’s no account, and the app has no ads, analytics or tracking.
- To run your subscription, Apple and our subscription service, RevenueCat, see your purchase history under a random ID. Never your name or anything you log.
- You can delete everything at any time in the app: open Profile, then tap Delete all my data.
Who we are
Keep Clear is made by an independent developer in Australia, the seller named on Keep Clear’s App Store page. In this policy, “we” and “us” means that developer. You can contact us at support@keepclearapp.com.
This policy covers the Keep Clear app and this website. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.
What stays on your phone
Keep Clear saves what you enter in its own storage on your iPhone. That includes:
- your answers when you set up, like how you bet, roughly what you spent, your reasons and your goal
- your answers to the gambling check (the Problem Gambling Severity Index)
- your check-ins, urges, slips and the good things you note, including anything you write
- your support person’s name and phone number, if you add them
- your plans for big days and your progress in the setup guide
Your progress, insights and weekly review are worked out on your phone from this information. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else, so we can’t see it, share it or recover it.
If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, Keep Clear’s data is included in that backup like any other app’s data, and protected by your backup settings.
What leaves your phone, and why
A few things have to go over the internet for Keep Clear to work. None of them include anything you’ve logged.
Your subscription
Apple handles all payments. We never receive your card details or Apple Account details, and Apple’s privacy policy covers your purchase.
We use RevenueCat to check that your subscription is active. When the app opens, or when you start, change or restore a subscription, RevenueCat receives:
- a random ID that the app creates when it’s first opened, which isn’t linked to your name, email or Apple Account
- your Keep Clear purchase history: the plan, when it started, its price and whether it will renew
- the technical details needed to answer, such as your device type, iOS version, app version and App Store country, along with the IP address that comes with any internet request
We use this to unlock the app and to see overall numbers, like how many people subscribe and stay subscribed. It isn’t used for advertising or to track you across other apps.
App updates
Keep Clear checks for small updates through Expo, the service it’s built with. The check includes your phone’s operating system, which version of Keep Clear you have, and a random token that tells Expo whether this copy of the app has checked before, along with your IP address. It’s used only to deliver updates.
Reminders
Check-in reminders, milestones, Your week and heads-ups are scheduled by your iPhone itself. They don’t pass through any server.
Links, calls and texts
When you open BetStop, Gambling Help Online, your bank’s help page or another website from the app, that site’s own privacy policy applies. Calls and texts, like a message to your support person, go through your phone’s Phone and Messages apps. Keep Clear doesn’t send them or keep a copy.
Emails to us
If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write. We use it only to help you, and we delete support emails within 12 months of the conversation ending.
This website
keepclearapp.com has no cookies, analytics or ads, and loads nothing from other companies. Our web host keeps standard access logs, like IP addresses and the pages requested, to run the site and protect it from attacks.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell, rent or trade anyone’s information.
- We don’t show ads or use your phone’s advertising ID.
- We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- We don’t put analytics or crash-reporting tools in the app.
The companies we work with
Apple, RevenueCat and Expo receive only what’s described above, and use it only to provide their services. We use services that protect this information to at least the standard in this policy, and each has its own privacy policy:
- Apple: apple.com/legal/privacy
- RevenueCat: revenuecat.com/privacy
- Expo: expo.dev/privacy
These companies are based overseas, mainly in the United States, so this information may be stored or handled outside Australia.
How long things are kept
- On your phone: until you delete it in the app or delete the app.
- Purchase records: Apple and RevenueCat keep them for as long as they’re needed to run your subscription and for tax and accounting.
- Update checks: as set out in Expo’s privacy policy.
- Support emails: up to 12 months after the conversation ends.
Your choices
- Delete everything in the app: tap the round button at the top of Home to open Profile, then tap Delete all my data. It’s removed from your phone straight away and can’t be undone. Deleting the app does the same, though older iPhone backups keep a copy until they’re replaced.
- Turn reminders off: in Profile, tap Reminders, or turn off notifications for Keep Clear in your iPhone’s Settings.
- Your purchase record: email us and we’ll ask RevenueCat to delete it. As it isn’t linked to your name, include the order ID from Apple’s receipt email so we can find it. Cancelling a subscription stops future charges but doesn’t delete the record.
- Access and correction: you can ask what information we hold about you, which is usually only emails you’ve sent us, and ask us to correct it.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, email us and we’ll respond within 30 days. If you’re still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Children
Keep Clear is made for adults and isn’t directed at children. If you’re under 18 and worried about gambling, you can call Gambling Help on 1800 858 858 or Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800, free and at any time.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what leaves your phone, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
